Trump just handed Big Oil a $1.5 trillion gift and sent your clean air, clean water, and weather forecasts to the chopping block. The so-called "Bloody New Deal" dropped Friday: a record $1.5 trillion for the Pentagon. At the same time, gutting over $15 billion in DOE funding for renewable energy and carbon capture, canceling $4 billion in EV charging infrastructure, and eliminating the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
The EPA, the last line of defense between your family and corporate polluters, would be cut by 52%, down to just $4.2 billion. Last year Congress blocked a similar move.
Will they again? Hmmm.
NOAA, which runs the National Weather Service, would lose $1.6 billion, including the elimination of its entire Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research. This is the agency that tells you when a hurricane is coming. Gone. The White House's justification? NOAA grants "radicalize students against markets and spread baseless environmental alarm."
That's not a budget. That's a fossil fuel industry wish list written in federal ink.
NSF would be cut by 55%. NASA science by 23%. NIH by 12%.
The institutions that built America's global scientific leadership, dismantled, so defense contractors who can't deliver ships on time or pass a clean audit can get even richer.
Every indicator is already flashing red on climate. Trump just ripped out the dashboard.
