Taking this post from forward because it won’t let you share. It was posted by Mariana Hernandez. It’s that rant we’ve had forever about how the rich are pilfering us. But to me it’s a lot more. It’s the US (not us) partying with the communists. All the big bucks guys and IT billionaires are in there. Not the democrats they are calling communists. This read is worth every word. You don’t have to be at the bottom of the barrel for this to hit home:
Everybody wants to rule the world, and last night we got a good look at who actually does.
Trump threw a state dinner for Xi Jinping at the White House, the people's house. The East Room fits about 145 people, and the seats closest to the two presidents went to Elon Musk, right next to the first lady, Jensen Huang of Nvidia and his wife, Lisa Su of AMD, and Tim Cook of Apple.
Behind them you had Bezos, Zuckerberg, Pichai, Altman, Michael Dell, Jamie Dimon, Larry Fink, the head of Goldman Sachs.
The Chief Justice was there too, with two Supreme Court justices, which is very convenient in case anyone at the head table needed a ruling before dessert.
I looked at that table for a long time. I'm still looking for the person who has ever worried about you. And you're out here defending them.
Gas is $4.49 this morning, the highest it has ever been for this time of year, more than a dollar up since we went to war with Iran.
And I keep hearing the same thing at the gas station, in the comments, from people I love. I don't care if gas hits ten dollars, as long as we don't become socialist, as long as we don't become communist, we are not going to become Cuba.
Listen to yourself for a second.
You're at the register putting the chicken back because the total came out too high, you're putting in half a tank because that's what you have until Friday, and the thing you're proud of is that at least you're not Cuba.
Put it on a T-shirt. Oh wait, you can't afford the T-shirt.
Meanwhile Xi was eating sea bass at the White House.
Think about this one. The head of the Chinese Communist Party, the man you've been told to be afraid of your whole life, got a red carpet, a military ceremony, his trade truce extended and a bald eagle statue as a gift. The bald eagle. To the communist.
He's also sending two pandas to Zoo Atlanta, so Georgia gets pandas and you get $4.49 gas.
China controls the rare earths those tech CEOs need to make their chips, and I don't think it's a coincidence who got the good seats.
And you can hate his system all you want, but Xi goes home and keeps working for China. That man plans his country decades ahead and gets up every day to work for it. The men sitting with him work for themselves. When your rent goes up and your hospital closes, they'll still be right here, and so will their yacht.
Two days before that dinner, Lula, the president of Brazil, stood up at the United Nations and said it out loud: too much technology is in the hands of too few people, and Big Tech and AI need rules for the whole world. Two days later those same few were sitting at the head table.
And back home? Jake in Kansas is calling ICE on the neighbor who fixed his roof. Peter in Arkansas is yelling at a Democrat in a Walmart parking lot. Linda in Ohio is scared of a trans kid who just wants to use the bathroom and play volleyball, and somebody's uncle is posting about drag queens and library books and pronouns, or whatever he was told to be angry about this week.
I'm going to say this as nicely as I can. That trans kid didn't raise your gas. The immigrant didn't close your hospital, the drag queen didn't touch your pension, and the teacher didn't send you that medical bill. The people who did were at that dinner last night, clinking glasses.
Brother, they're playing you. Te están tomando el pelo (they're pulling your leg), and you're thanking them for it.
You're fighting your neighbor while they pass the bread, you're scared of the communist while the communist gets toasted in the East Room, and the people deciding your life were sitting at that table without one of them knowing your name.
Oh, and before dessert, Trump invited everyone to go look at his new ballroom, because the room was too small. With the ballroom, he said, they could have fit more than 1,000 people.
A thousand people, and it still wouldn't have been you. In the people's house.
