An Underwater Cemetery?

Julia Child, the renowned chef and television personality, chose a unique and fitting final resting place. Her ashes were interred in the Neptune Memorial Reef, a man-made underwater memorial off the coast of Key Biscayne, Florida. This reef serves as a columbarium, where cremated remains are incorporated into the reef's structure. The reef features a personalized plaque commemorating Child's life and contributions, and it attracts various marine creatures, creating a vibrant and ecological environment. This underwater memorial is a fitting tribute to Child's love of nature and her adventurous spirit. However, she does have a gravestone in Santa Barbara, California with other relatives. 

She and husband Paul once lived in Sausalito near San Francisco.

This is the Vaquero that was originally at the Hacienda, a hotel and entertainment area from the 50's to the 70's along Hwy. 99 and Clinton, in Fresno, CA. At some point it was moved to Mendes General Store on Hwy. 99 and Olive. Now it has been restored and is on display at the Fresno Fairgrounds. Photo by John Walker.

American Clock company clock of Los Angeles. Outer ring is pumped with neon gas with a drop mercury. It’s a red color tube until it warms up and changes to all blue. Inner red and uranium green are original.

They spend most of their life underwater as nymphs, and only in the last stage do they emerge with wings, living just a few months as adults. Despite their short lifespan, dragonflies remind us to live fully in the present moment. Their ability to fly in all directions makes them one of nature’s most skilled hunters, catching almost every prey they chase.
